About This Site

This site is dedicated to one single simple concept:

Be better!

  • Be a better version of yourself.
  • Be a more positive version of yourself.
  • Be a better employee or husband/wife or Christian.
  • Be a better human.
  • Be better in your relationships with friends.
  • Be better in your relationships with acquaintances.
  • And most importantly, be better in your relationships with those you disagree with.

Articles on this site will focus on a large variety of topics and will not be completely dedicated to the conservative side; but it stands to reason that many of the folks I invite to write blogs here will be conservatives. If that isn't your cup of tea, feel free to move on.

As soon as commenting is enabled on articles, feel free to give your opinion. However, please know that this site's community standards are a bit stiffer than most. The site's AI will monitor and remove foul language and comments that are meant to attack another person could result in a ban.

About NrdHrd3.com

Hi! My name is Mike Rissen. I live in Topeka, Kansas and work as a technical trainer where I teach Microsoft technologies; including Microsoft Azure™, web technologies like ASP.Net™ and ASP.Net Core™, and various programming languages.

In my free time, I enjoy the activities below in order of importance:

  • My family time - I have four children and 2 beautiful awesome grandchildren who are the light of my life. Another grandson is on the way!
  • My church family time - I spent over 20 years in youth ministry and have always been heavily involved in my church. I currently attend El Shaddai Ministries Community Church located in Topeka, KS
  • My music - I played trumpet in high school and took piano lessons as a kid; although I didn't put too much effort into it. Later, I started playing guitar and began pursuing it earnestly when I was the Youth Pastor and we lost our worship leader. Since that time, I've been involved in the church worship team. I've also recently taken up playing the bass. My favorite musical style is Jazz. My favorite Christian music style is black gospel.

Regarding politics: I understand the temptation to throw angry words and accusations at the other side, whomever that may be. But here's the deal! Because of the pseudo-anonymity of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, people have gotten comfortable saying some pretty cruel things to good folk all in the name the defense of a religious or political position, and this just shouldn't be! We've got to be better!

I am not allowed to discuss politics in my classroom and these other forums are far too caustic for me to do so. Therefore, I created this site where we can all talk, where we can all give our opinions...but anonymity is expressly not granted, and you are responsible for what you say. You are responsible for treating people with honor. Hopefully we can use this safe environment to become better at interacting with those we disagree with, regardless of what their position is.
